Description
Preparation or drawing for lithograph of the same name.
In the picture on the left half of the picture a hunter from his left side, walking, is shown. In his left hand he holds a gun in front of him, his right arm he has laid on his back. He is wearing hunting clothes and a cap. Around his feet are indistinctly shown several (about seven) hunting dogs. The background consists only of a few horizontal coal slabs. The stroke is sketching and scrawly.
Inscription: front side: handwritten dedication and signature: "TDem Unteroffizier Max Braunthal M. Liebermann 18/10. 15" (coal)

Provenance
Purchased in May 1953 for the municipal collection for 230 DM at the 17th Art Auction (Lot No. 1539) in the Stuttgart Kunstkabinett Ketterer (19-21 May 1953); comes from the collection of the Jewish businessman Max Braunthal, Frankfurt am Main / Paris, who received the drawing in 1915 as a gift from the artist.
