Description
Model ship of a goélette. At the foot silver tendrils. In the ship tiny figures of three soldiers, in the cordage two sailors. On the flag of the masthead a trademark. The scabbard inscribed: M. S. B. 1679 (Matthäus Schlintzig ϯ 1679). After Rosenberg l. a. o. no. 1303 a work of the Nuremberg goldsmith Tobias Wolff, who was made master in 1604, several drinking vessels formed as a ship are known as his work. With Nuremberg assay mark and a makers mark.
Provenance
The object was kept in the Dresden City Hall (seat of the Dresden City Museum) until May 1945. It was stored there in the cellar together with the other arts and crafts exhibits of the museum - packed in boxes. Lost since the end of the war.
