Description
Sixfoil-shaped foot with tow snall round relief plates: God the Father with the crucifix, and the crucifix between Mary and John. Depiction of the Crucifixion of Christ. Rhombic node with blue enamel inscription: IHESUS, underneath on the stem: Cristu, above IHESUS in gothic majuscules. Engraving on the inner edge of the foot Caspar Jhenighen vicarius 1508. The name Jenichen is mentioned several times in the decades around 1500 in Dresden.
Provenance
Until May 1945, the object was located in the Dresden City Hall (seat of the Dresden City Museum). It was stored there together with the other handicraft exhibits of the museum - packed in boxes - in the cellar. Lost since the end of the war.
