Description
Daikoku kneels in bourgeois Chinese costume with round flat plate cap with one leg on a rice bale; a sack with takaramono/treasures rests on his back, which he holds with his right hand; the left holds a hammer with a sitting rat. His face framed by thick long ears and three-part puny goatee; broad grin with open mouth; signed.

Acquired in 1908 by Herbert Ginsberg in Japan; 1908 to 1942 Ostasiatica Collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; confiscated by the SD in Rotterdam in 1942.
