Description
The Sennin stands there with a friendly smile, holding the four-legged toad with his right hand as it crouches on his shoulder, leaning against his bald skull; his long chin beard, like the long hair on the back of his head, falls onto the collar of leaves that lies over his Chinese robe.

Acquired in 1908 by Herbert Ginsberg in Japan; 1908 to 1942 Ostasiatica Collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; confiscated by the SD in Rotterdam in 1942.
