Description
Saigyo stands calmly, leaning on his stick; he looks up (to Mount Fuji) with a radiant face; his head is bald; the wind moves the folds of his priestly robe, around whose back a cloth is wrapped; his hands are hidden from his body under the pilgrim's hat.

Acquired in 1908 by Herbert Ginsberg in Japan; 1908 to 1942 Ostasiatica Collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; confiscated by the SD in Rotterdam in 1942.
