Description
The blind, hunchbacked old beggar has something untidy on his right ashida; he has therefore taken it in his left hand and is cleaning it with his right; in order not to lose his footing during this procedure, where he is only standing on his left foot, he leans on his long stick by wedging it into his right shoulder and clutching it with his right foot; over his kimono he wears hakama, on his feet tabi; meticulous work in light soft wood.

Acquired in 1907 by Herbert Ginsberg from the firm R. Wagner, Berlin; 1907 to 1942 Ostasiatica collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; confiscated by the SD in Rotterdam in 1942.
