Oval Meissen monteith from the Swan Service for Heinrich von Brühl
Modelled by J.F. Eberlein. The shell-shaped outside, each side with a central gilded cartouche with the Brühl coat of arms flanked by flowers, fruits, crabs and shells at each end a Nereid's handle of reed, the Nereids with long hair and forked tails, entwined with foliage and each with a garland of flowers. Pressed no. 28.
(One Nereid handle: left arm and hand restored and (one tail fin replaced, the other handle: with broken and restored left arm and a restored tail fin, restoration of the crab's tail and a shell, restored chip in the cartouche, small chips and minor restorations to reeds, flowers and foliage, slight wear to the gilding).
