Oval Meissen monteith from the Swan Service for Heinrich von Brühl
Modelled by J.F. Eberlein. Shell-shaped outside, on each side a central gilded cartouche with the Brühl coat of arms flanked by flowers, fruits, crabs and shells, at each end a Nereid reed-handle, the Nereids with long hair and forked tails, entwined with foliage and each with a flower garland, the upper lip is decorated with cascading water and alternating gilded shells. Pressed no. 28.
(One Nereid handle is broken in the lower area and restored at the base of the handle, the other has a new tail fin, both with small chips and restorations to the Nereid hands and foliage, small chips and some restorations to the reeds, shells, crayfish, flowers and foliage, some wear to the gilding).
