Inscribed in Hebrew in the center of both boxes: "Righteousness [Charity] saves from death" (Proverbs 10:2); on the box on the right the names Zalman Leib Abeles, Shlomo Markstein and Kalman Engel appear around the rim; on the box on the left, the inscription around the rim mentions that the box was made by the synagogue wardens ("gabbaim") of the Burial Society of the Holy Community of Szerdahely (abbreviated, named also Dunaszerdahely), and the Hebrew year
