Description
Eight-armed candelabrum that plays a major cultic role in the days of the Jewish festival of lights Hanukkah. The candelabrum, made of brass, consists of four parts joined together, a round base, the eight-armed candelabrum top, a screw connecting the two and a pointed thin 8.5 cm long rod in a holder provided for this purpose on the baluster shaft, which is the holder for a wick functioning as a "servant candle". The 8.5 cm long wick holder is present and quite simply made of bent brass wire with an eyelet on one side and tapering towards the other end. The stepped round base measures 7 cm in diameter and is made by the lost wax process, which left clear casting marks from the metal casting on the unpolished underside. The eight spouts are fitted with round drip plates.
