The gouache shows a landscape with architectural motifs and staffage. In the foreground a man and a woman are sitting at a water. In front of them stands a water bearer. On the right there are architectural elements. In the middle ground a sphinx is depicted, to the right further staffage. Behind high trees, houses can be seen in the background, above which the cloudy sky stretches.
The work is signed and dated "A. E. de Willarst Fecit / AΩ 1718".
