Front Center Christ and his disciples, where a boy showing the way. Right and left high trees, behind classical buildings and tombs.
Provenance
The painting "Classical Landscape with Christ and his disciples" of Francois Millet probably originated around 1670. The painting was acquired in the auction from 27.01. until 29.01.1943 of the auction house Hans W. Lange, Berlin W 9, Bellevuestr.7 of the Reich Chancellery by adding value of 6000.- RM. The painting is done in the auction catalog under No. 28. In the auction catalog, the painting not attributed by Francoise Millet but by Gaspard Dughet. After the war was carried out write-up Millet. Expert opinion on the originality were not made. About the Owners: There are different statements or receipts. While Prof. Oertel (1939-1944 member of the "special order Linz"), in a survey carried out by representatives of the CCP Munich indicates the purchase of the painting from the gallery H. Kühl in Dresden, is in the auction catalog of 27 - 29.01.1943 as Origin "from Vienna" called. Search in Vienna remained inconclusive.
