Coins (29)

The objects are part of a total of 48 coins, which were recorded under the inventory numbers 1942/57 to 1942/67. The coins concerned have been given new inventory numbers in the new inventory in 2013. The 1942/58 is now running under the numbers 2013/68.1281, 1284, 1300, 1301, 1302, 1303, 1304, 1317, 1327, 1331, 1332, 1333, 1334, 1335, 1336, 1351, 1368, 1369. Three of the 1/24 thalers can no longer be found. The 1942/61 was given the numbers 2013/68.1082, 1093, 1109, 1110, 1114, 1120. A threesome is missing. The 1942/57 did not receive a new inventory number and was not traceable.
In July 1942, the coin sets were acquired by the coin dealer Georg Pfanneberg for 155.75 Reichsmark and incorporated into the collection of the Städtisches Museum. The seller Georg Pfanneberg took over the coin shop of the Jewish family Seligmann in Hannover in 1937. During this Nazi persecution-related takeover of the business, the goods also passed into the possession of Georg Pfanneberg.
29 of the 48 coins brought into the Göttingen Municipal Museum were originally from the old stock of the coin shop of Henry and Alma Seligmann. The coins could be clearly identified by a catalogue of the coin shop from 1931.
