Engagement shell
The small ornamental bowl is made of thinly abossed silver and shows as a high relief in the middle two pigeons with flaming heart, on the edge tendrils and four cherubs heads. The love symbols indicate a gift for an engagement or wedding. There are no indications of the donor or the recipient of the object. Probably it was not a commissioned work, but already in stock at the Goldsmith. However, this also means that it is not necessarily a unique piece and therefore no clear identification of the object can be guaranteed with the one mentioned in the literature.
