Description
In a Dutch interior, three people are grouped around the cradle of a baby. On the right is an older man with a pince-nez on his nose. Reading a letter, he rocks the cradle. To the left of the cradle stands an elegantly dressed young man. The figure of a young woman can be seen half hidden. In the doorway on the left, the cook stands with a bucket over her arm, behind her a part of the kitchen becomes visible. In the right side of the picture is a little girl with a doll on her arm and a dog at her feet. A black greyhound animates the scene on the left. The walls of the room are covered with a warm brown cover.
