Description
In the centre a colourful cock, approached angrily by a white hen from the left. In front of the hen three chicks. On the right, partly overlapped by the edge of the picture, a large turkey seen from the side. Behind it a view of a landscape.
Verso: A rip in the upper part of the canvas, on the stretcher in pencil at the upper left: "XR 12/2 A", next to it in pencil: "Max Josef Str. 2/l", at the upper right in blue: "31953" [Munich number], on the right label BStGS: "Inv. 13014", above it "PR" [Photo Roth], on the centre left a slip of paper with a jagged edge on it handwritten: "Ölgemälde 181", on the lower left a white sticker on it handwritten: "B II 22/R" [Standort Depot AP], on the central strut in pencil: "5", on the lower right and left traces of a sticker [presumably from a foam tape, as used to be common in the Alte Pinakothek].
