Description
The painting shows several guardsmen on their horses in a flat landscape. The central rider is shown in three-quarter profile to the right. He carries a raised sabre in his right hand, while the other soldiers are silhouetted behind him on the left and are hidden by bushes in the foreground.
The work is signed and dated "A. Pettenkofen 1848" on the lower right.
