Description
In the cool morning light, between the rocky slope on the left, the tree trunk on the right in front and a church tower on the other side of the river, which rises out of the bank bushes under a partly cloudy sky, in the shallow bank water in front stand 3 cows, 1 calf, 1 dog, 2 sheep, the shepherd (carrying the 3rd) in a chimney-red jacket with stick and hat, and a mule on which the shepherdess is riding (blue skirt, white burden bag), holding up the child.
