Description
The icon shows the St. Nicholas of Myra. About the Holy centrally shown are right to see Christ with book and left Maria with ceiling surrounded both figures by a radiant halo. In the same level there are the very fine labels: Jesus Christ and Mater Deus (ancient Greek). Links under Christ's Old Slavonic font in golden letters in a title block "С. Нiколас "[S. Nikolas] and right under Maria "Чюдоброрелz" (miracles) to read in a text field on dark red ground. St. Nicholas presents in his right hand an open book with a text in Old Slavonic Scripture that refers to the entry of Christ into Jerusalem, the right hand of the saint in the gesture of blessing. The icon and the nimbus of the saints are surrounded by a narrow red line. The outer edge and Nimbus have an engraved in the gold background floral ornamentation.
Provenance
The icon came in 1945 as a gift in the hands of the St. Nicholas church in Blankenfelde.
