Description
Motive: Seen halfway from backwards, a farmer stands in a barely indicated corner of the room and lights a pipe. Works no. Gm 314.
Provenance
Acquired on February 6, 1939 by Rudolf Neugass, Bad Homburg. The eight Wilhelm Busch paintings owned by Rudolf Neugass were already in the fall of 1938, according to a letter from 25.11.1938 in the archives of the Wilhelm-Busch-Gesellschaft e.V. In the early summer of 2017, they were returned to the heirs of Rudolf Neugass
