Young peasant woman with three children in the window
A young farmer's wife and three children look out of a window. The stained-glass, wooden window frame is depicted in deceptive naturalness. On the far left in the bright light, the youngest child, about one year old. He is held by his mother. He looks out of the window frontally and has a white bonnet on. On the right, a blonde-haired boy of about three years. While the boy's head is turned back to the upper left, he points to the observer with the index finger of his right hand. On the left, behind the youngest, a boy of about five years, also blond. He looks out laughing. The children's faces are usually in bright light, while that of the mother is only illuminated by soft reflex light.
