Extensive collections of printed works on Saxon-French and German-French relations from the 16th to the 19th century, history, politics, culture, and regional studies, as well as belles-lettres, comprising 18,500 volumes, including 18th-century French Enlightenment literature published in Dresden. (Alongside Berlin and Amsterdam, Dresden was one of the most important publishing centers for this literature, which was banned in France).
