Extensive collection of printed works on the particularly intense Saxon-Italian relations from the 15th to the 19th century, including history, politics, culture, regional studies, and belles-lettres, with over 10,000 volumes.

This collection forms a unity with the rich Italian heritage of the Dresden art collections, the Staatskapelle, and in the field of church music, and is indispensable for its scientific development. A particularly valuable part of this specialist group are around 1,000 librettos of Italian operas performed in Dresden (Unica and Rarissima).
