Description

Shape:

Above a convex ring stand, a high concave curved foot; baluster-shaped body with short shoulder; cylindrical neck with two filet rings.

Décor:

Above the base a band with zigzag pattern; a stylised rock indicated at the lower left, probably in underglaze blue; a branch with similar flowers on the outside, insects in between; neck separated by a zigzag border; areas between the bulges decorated differently: below stylised leaf motifs with a semicircular base, short strings of pearls between the leaves, wavy border at the top.

Manufacturer's mark: underglazed blue AR monogram.

Comment:

The cover shown in the historical photo is preserved: SKD, porcelain collection, inv. no. PE 5543; dimensions: h. 12.7 cm, d. 16.5 cm.

Provenance
Dresden Castle, tower room; the collection of porcelain, together with the carpets, furnishings from the porcelain gallery and scientific material (10 boxes), was relocated to 16 different locations in a total of 1211 boxes. The relocation sites, some of which were castles and manor houses, served as refugee accommodation after 1945. As part of the collection was later offered for sale by private individuals or found in private estates, it is assumed that some of the losses were due to looting and destruction. According to the loss report for the porcelain collection from 1991, a partial transport to the Soviet Union cannot be ruled out.
