Description
Circular bowl with wavy rim and foot; depiction: a crowned woman plays with a snake in front of a ruined castle by a river.
Provenance
Belongs to a set of 13 plates and bowls (no. 142-157 in the 1830 inventory, no. 196-208 in the 1858 inventory), which, according to the 1858 inventory, had been given to the Kunstkammer by duke Ernest II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, some of them being damaged; further note 1858: according to a letter by v. Murr, Nuremburg, dated January 11th 1791, the 46 majolica objects were purchased for 10 ducats.
