Description
Foot with engraved depiction of the Crucified, whose blood is caught by two angels; opposite on the foot the coat of arms of Duke Philip with headline "V. G. G. P. J. H. Z. S. P." for by the Grace of God Philipp Julius Duke of Szczecin-Pomerania ("Von Gottes Gnaden Philipp Julius Herzog zu Stettin-Pommern" 1603-1625 Duchy of Pomerania-Wolgast); round stem with lozenge ornamentation, knob/node with tracery, on the rotuln the letters "IHESVS", the late gothic chalice reworked in the first quarter of the 17th century (body supplemented).
Provenance
Property of the church of Katzow (church district of Pomerania). Loaned in October 1935 to the Pomeranian State Museum in Szczecin for the exhibition "Kunstpflege in Pomerania zum Gedächtnis an das 1637 erlöschene Greifengeschlecht" (memorial exhibition) March 14 - July 15, 1937. The chalice did not return. 1949 confirmation of the district curator, the chalice did not belong to the objects ensured from Szczecin. 1981 request of the then parish priest to the Muzeum Narodowe in Szczecin also no transfer to the Foundation Pomerania in Kiel or to the Veste Coburg. [...]. Whereabouts unknown.
