At the bottom right on a plank: "SDEVLEGER"; a black cloud casts a wide shadow on the waves from the left.

Provenance

From the collection of duke August of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). Still in the museum in 1943 (catalog 1943, p. 189); date of loss unknown, whereabouts unknown.
