Description
The stag and hind, pursued by dogs, rush into a river, on the right bank of which two hunters armed with spears are waiting for them. The animals are followed by a lady on horseback and a gentleman who is about to fall into the water. On the left another hunter on horseback and a servant. Mountainous landscape with a rock castle and country houses. Lower margin about 3 cm. Gold frame. Formerly Petersburg, Hermitage. Cat. 1901, No 1036 (from the collection of Count Brühl). Inscribed with monogram at lower left. Engraved: Moyreau, 1747. no. 56 as "L'accident du chasseur", and by Tischler.
