Description
Cylindrical jug with handle and pewter fitting on the foot and lip; slightly domed pewter lid with the initials "C:H:B" on a five-part-hinge; three pewter marks on the interior of the lid. 1. "X" above the year 1699; 2. "IFA", with the lamb of God and the year 1699; 3. a sitting bishop with crosier (St Gotthard?); the jug is painted with schematic leaves and flowers in blue, under a porcelain-like glaze.
Provenance
Acquired on August 24th 1900 from the merchant Karl Schröder, Ernstroda, for the sum of 12 marks.
