Description
Pewter jug of the fishermen's guild. The spout as a dolphin head. On the lid engraved crossed branches, inscribed: "Vivat es lebe / die Hochlöbliche / Fischer Geselschaft / und Zunft / 1780. Am Bauche bez.: Johann Adam Gaſs / Johann George Naumann, Johann Davit Naumann / Johann Gottfriedt Grüger, Johann Gorg Richter / Johann Christian Naumann, Carl Gottlieb Krüger / Christian August Richter, Johann Gottfridt Naumann / Benjamin Gottlob Gaſse, Gottlob Leberecht Naumann." Marked with Dresden city mark and a makers mark.
Provenance
The object was kept in the Dresden City Hall (seat of the Dresden City Museum) until May 1945. It was stored there in the cellar together with the other arts and crafts exhibits of the museum - packed in boxes. Lost since the end of the war.
