Provenance
The drawing was in the adhesive volume Ca 7 “Biblische Darstellungen und Szenen der Heiligenlegende”, which was stolen after the end of the war in 1945. The volume contained 290 drawings by German, Dutch, French and Italian artists from the 16th to 17th centuries, which were acquired in 1728 from the Gottfried Wagner Collection in Leipzig and had not yet been researched. The drawing was returned from private German ownership in 1995. It had been acquired in the 1950s with other works from the Dresden Cabinet on the Arbat in Moscow.
