Description
Shape:
Strongly constricted base, the outer edge rounded at the top; ogival, bulbous body with a raised shoulder; a slightly widening neck, separated and divided by two bulges; a high bell-shapedcover with a projecting lip and ogival knob.
Décor:
Body and cover with olive-green ground; foot and neck left white; two large high-oval, leaf-shaped cartousches without framing on the body; in the cartouche a schinoiserie style scenery, in front of a temple-like architecture August II as Grand Mogul in a purple cloak and with a crown, he is depicted fwith a picture showing the city of Meissen and a very large vase with the Saxon-Polish coat of arms, at the lower margin of the picture five different lidded vases lined up; above the scene with its many figures a fire-breathing dragon with a human-like face and numerous flying birds; on each of the two vase covers quatrefoil fields with a chinoiserie scene and Indian flower branches on a stylised rock; the bulges at the neck, the edge of the cover and the knob are gilded, around the neck two bands of densely painted gold ornaments, formed by opposing C-bows and small ovals.

Provenance
Dresden Castle, tower room; the collection of porcelain, together with the carpets, furnishings from the porcelain gallery and scientific material (10 boxes), was relocated to 16 different locations in a total of 1211 boxes. The relocation sites, some of which were castles and manor houses, served as refugee accommodation after 1945. As part of the collection was later offered for sale by private individuals or found in private estates, it is assumed that some of the losses were due to looting and destruction. According to the loss report for the porcelain collection from 1991, a partial transport to the Soviet Union cannot be ruled out.

"71. Zwei hohe Balustervasen mit eingezogenem Fuß, olivgrüner Grund in ausgesparten Feldern, reiche Schmelzfarbenbemalung, Meißner Porzellan, Vorderseite: Chin. Allegorien, August der Starke als Großmogul vor dem sächs.-poln. Alliance-Wappen und einer Ansicht von Meißen. Rückseite: Vögel zwischen Blütenzweigen, am Hals doppelte Goldkante, Deckel mit zweifach. Knopf mit ausgesparten Chinesen und Blütendarstellungen. Rechts: III 374, am Boden mehrere Brandriße, Höhe: 54 cm, Durchmesser: ca. 20 cm. Links: Die gleichen Darstellungen, nur einfacher gehalten, der olivgrüne Grund heller, unterglasurkobaltblaues AR III 375+. Höhe: 54 cm, Durchmesser: ca. 19 cm. (Turmzimmer, vormal.
