In 1939 the portrait is listed as part of a list of objects in the Moritzburg to ensure the
antiaircraft defense.
According to existing archival records, it was very likely to be transferred to the Bösenburg cave (municipality Gerbstedt, district of Mansfeld-Südharz, Land Saxony-Anhalt) in 1944. After that the track of the picture loses. It is known, that after the end of the war, the cave was crashed, boxes were broken and art objects were looted (Museum of Fine Arts Moritzburg Halle (Saale)).
