Description
Spice box, belonging to a five-piece tableware set owned by duchess Christina, second wife of Frederick I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg; the oval box is decorated with red and white enamelled flowers, like the beaker; the cover is decorated with an entwined "C" under the princely coronet (?) and set with 15 rubies (of which one large ruby missing.)

From the estate of duchess Christina of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (died in 1705).
