Description
Baroque-style clock stand, "Chronos". [...] Sitting in front is a naked old man with an hourglass. This is supposed to represent Chronos, the god of time. The round opening in the middle was intended for a pocket watch. Those who were not carrying it with them at the time would temporarily put it in this small frame. Here the valuable piece was protected and temporarily made itself useful as a longcase clock clock. Stand for pocket watch. Carved in a late rococo frame. Chronos with hourglass sitting full-round in front.
Provenance
Formerly Uckermark Museum, Prenzlau. Presumably lost during the war in 1945.
