Description
Counterpart to the previous no. 77 [tureen with cover and coaster]. Arrangement and ornamentation essentially the same. [On the outside of the tureen two colorful chinoiseries in broad, gold-contoured quatrefoils with c-shaped lustrous fields surrounded by light-brown shaded iron-red foliage on the lower half. Between handles and cartouches Indian flower branches in rich, dark iron red, purple violet, yellow and emerald green. The edge decorated with delicate gold border of c-shaped bows, smaller overlapping hooks and pearl festoons. The cover has four colorful chinoiseries in gold contoured fields with two parallel and two bulbous sides, framed by a c-shaped, lustrous gold ornament. In the four spandrels triangular lustre fields with large golden scales. At the edge of the coaster four miniature-like, finely painted, colorful chinoiseries in broad quatrefoils, in the interspaces triangular lustre fields with gold scales and golden foliage at the top. In the concave section, a delicate gold lace border of winding C-shaped bows, small hooks, chalices and pearl festoons. On the well a primitive painted group of a standing Chinese man with a large leaf fan and a boy at a fence between Indian flower shrubs, the latter in the same colors as the flowers on the tureen. Underneath the group of figures on an insular brown-yellow ground, three sitting birds; small butterflies in the air. On the rear at the edge three long Indian flower branches in the same colors ...]. The gold tips more coarse. The foliage around the cartouches of the tureen in bright iron red, the Indian flower branches much more faintly in drawing and disposition. The picture scenes more concentrated on the figures, the figure scale larger, the color scale almost gaudily colored. Swords marks, on the coaster swords with F in cobalt blue (see illustration; note SKD, Porzellansammlung Dresden).
