Description
Two Venice Veduta of Giovanni Antonio Canal, called Canaletto.
Both paintings, like all the pictures in this collection, had the same gold frame. The photograph on the right shows this frame with another painting. There are no pictures of the two lost paintings.
Due to the provenance, the family names "Dönhoff"; "Schwerin" or locations of their hanging (see Provenance) can be found on the reverse of the paintings or on the canvas stretchers.
Provenance
Property of the family Bogislav Graf Dönhoff-Dönhoffstädt (1754-1809) in Ostpreußen, Skandau in Ostpreußen, Wilhelmstraße 63 in Berlin; as of 1873 by inheritance to the family Countess Luise v. Schwerin, born Schwanenfeld in Neustrelitz, Tiergartenstraße 19a; 1910-October 1944 in the dining room of the family's residence in Göhren near Woldegk; after the end of October 1944 whereabouts remain unknown.
