Description
Fuchs text for plate 40: „Aufrechtstehende Frau (Im Lepke Katalog wird sie zum Mann) in Schaftstiefeln. Gelblichweißer Tonscherben. Unglasiert. Spuren roter Bemalung. Höhe 27 cm“. Damaged.

Provenance
Eduard Fuchs Collection acquired between 1912-1922 and in his possession there until 1933; 25.10.1933 confiscated by the Gestapo; forced sale (payment of Reichsfluchtsteuer) by his daughter Gertraud Fuchs: Auktionshaus Rudolph Lepke Berlin, Catalogue 2115, p. 17 - on 15.10 and 16.10.1937 this sculpture was auctioned as lot no. 213: "„ZWEI TONFIGUREN: a) kleines stehendes Pferd. H. 21 cm, Wei; b) stehender Mann. H. 28 cm. Tang. (Beschädigt)“. According to the annotated Lepke catalog (Kunsthistorische Bibliothek, Den Haag) by the art dealer Gottlieb Eger, Friedrichstraße 38, Stuttgart, auctioned for 38,- RM (no estimate). The transcript of the auction 2115 at the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts notes "Eger" in typescript and confirms the price of 38,- RM (Landesarchiv Berlin, A Rep. 243-04 Reich Chamber of Fine Arts - Landesleitung Berlin); whereabouts unknown
