Description
Venus stands leaning on a tree trunk, wearing a tiara, a jewel on a delicate ribbon on her bosom and several bangles on her forearms; a veil trails from the back of her head, with its lace trimming covering her pudenda; in her right hand, she holds a cloth which trails from the left arm behind her back; in her raised left arm, she holds a dove; pedestal made from black wood.
Provenance
According to the 1858 inventory, the object used to belong to duke August of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and was given to the Kunstkammer in 1804.
