Description
Nearly rectangular with chamfered side walls, foldable cover. Made of gold, engraved outside, covered with coloured enamel: roses, scrolls, pansies and other flowers. Smooth gold inside. At lower part a quatrefoil-shaped inkwell with screw cap next to a pen tray with golden quill pen and pencil in four parts. Weight: 119 g, Mark: At bottom of the ink well: Jb. faint, probably M crowned, Paris, 1775 - 1776?, R.6432, Pz. R.6537, H. Clavel 1780 - 1786 (at rim)
