Dreyfus, Léopold
About the person
Léopold Dreyfus was a renowned French painting and art dealer and was registered in the Paris trade register. He was a member of the ‘Syndicat National des Antiquaires Négociants en Objets d'Art Tableaux Anciens et Modernes’ from 1918 to 1942. In June 1940, Dreyfus' estate in Yrouerre par Tonnerre (Yonne) was looted by the Germans and part of his art collection was transported away on lorries. On 4 December 1945, Dreyfus drew up a list of all the stolen art objects, mainly paintings, that he had claimed.
