Violin
The top is of fine/medium spruce. The back is on one piece of fine/medium grained maple.
The ribs, neck, and scroll are of similar maple.
The color of the varnish on the back, ribs, and scroll is shaded yellow/brown, while the top varnish is light brown, with all shading removed.
This violin is currently set up with various rosewood fittings. The current condition is somewhat compromised, with a soundpost crack repair on the top, as well as the previously mentioned top varnish alteration.
The violin has two labels (one original, one later) that both read “Jacobus Stainer in Absan propro Oenipontom 16__”
