Description

Bust of bisque porcelain depicting the young Napoleon Bonaparte. On the underside of the base mark of the porcelain manufactory Fürstenberg "F" as well as embossed mark "A. H."; also handwritten inscription "Fürstenberg Nr. 2" (old number of the Bomann Museum) as well as a paper label with "2894 Du".

Provenance

The bust was purchased in 1940 for 30 RM from the art and antiques dealer Erich August Nolte, Andreasstraße 10 in Hanover. The exact meaning of the sticker is not yet certain, but it could be an indication that the art shop had previously purchased the bust at an auction of Jewish property.
