Presumed portrait of Lenau; Male portrait study;

Recto: lower right in pencil: "Fr Winterhalter 29 Sept / 1841";

Verso: stamp SGSM 18/Lugt no. 1094c, therein the inventory number in pencil; paper damaged at the lower edge;

Passepartout mask: embossed print in gold-brown, centre: "FRANZ X. WINTERHALTER", below embossed stamp SGSM 19, the stamp is pasted over with a round paper; below the cut-out on the right: “1940:12”; below right: “Angekauft durch / Freunde der Graphischen Sammlung”; on the left below the cut-out in pencil: “Bildnis Lenaus (?)”; on the lower edge, centre, in pencil: “195” (portfolio number); underlay, lower half in pencil: ’François Bouchot (1800 - 1842)"
