Description
After "The Martyrdom of St Lawrence" by Rubens, dated around 1615, in the Alte Pinakothek Munich; St Lawrence lies in front of a Jupiter statue, while an angel floats down carrying the martyr's crown.
Provenance
Sold Sept. 25, 1936 to Galerie Schumann/Frankfurt a. M. (file 3425 II), but photographer Rose Heidl still took the picture in 1937; given to the library on May 15, 1940, restored in 1941 (file 3514); still in the library in 1943 (catalog 1943, p. 73); whereabouts unknown.
