Description
Coloured carved relief with four motifs of the Nativity. Subtitle with positive text "DE BODSCOP MARIA", "DE GEBORDT", "DE HILGEN DRE KONING", "DE BESCHNIDING" The year 1601 in the centre, 4 identical motifs decorated with angels under a Renaissance arch of columns, framed overall with 10 presumed donor figures and abundant Renaissance ornamentation with many fruits
Provenance
Since 1601 House altar of the manor house in Kurzen Trechow built in 1601 by Dietrich and Elisabeth von Maltzahn; last owner until 1945 Hennecke von Plessen, acquisition and restoration by repurchase from the town of Bützow in 1935, since approx. 1873 stolen by the landowner's widow Kohrt as a laundry box cover and later passed to the town of Bützow through lack of heirs, originally owned by the family through the purchase of the manor house in 1847 by Anna von Plessen née von Carnap; confiscated as a result of the war by the Soviet military commission with the leading officer Ehrenberg, presumably taken to the Soviet Union.
