Description
Drawing with black chalk on stone (edition of 100 copies); monogram on the plate lower left: P.P. (Petit Pierre = Small Stone = Steinlen); colored version of this lithograph was also used as title page of the magazine "Le Chambard Socialiste" No. 32 of 21.07.1894
"Marianne, die Allegorie Frankreichs und der französischen Revolution, hat sich in die Arme eines muskulösen Arbeiters gerettet und streichelt ihm zärtlich die Brust. Kampfentschlossen hat dieser die Ärmel hochgestreift und die Hacke ergriffen. „Schnappt Sie euch doch, ihr Banditen“ ist sein Kampfruf. Dieses Plakat wurde von Eduard Fuchs 1898 auch im Wahlkampf der Münchner Sozialdemokratie eingesetzt." (UW)

C. 206 und 213 handsigniert"; purchased at the auction by the book and art antiquarian bookshop Herbert Buber, Schwertfegerstraße 10, Potsdam for 10,- RM at the estimate of 50,- RM (according to the protocol volume of the auction with names of buyers and prices); whereabouts unknown
