This provenance information is based on the 1940 Frederik Muller sale, a SNK document of art dealer Douwes, the 1997 Sotheby’s catalogue, and the Aert van der Neer catalogue raisonné by Wolfgang Schulz, published in 2002, cat.no. 1293 [see sources for full bibliography]:

Clark, London; Art dealer Pieter de Boer, Amsterdam, 1928; Art dealer Fritz Kleinberger, Paris, 1930; Lewenstein family; offered for sale, as result of Nazi persecution, at auction house Frederik Muller & Co, Amsterdam, 8-9 October 1940, lot no. 234; Art dealer Douwes, Amsterdam, acquired at the aforementioned auction in 1940; Dr. Franz Kieslinger, acquired from Douwes on 6 November 1940; Ing. Bruno Drexler, Vienna; By descent to Bruno Drexler's sister Maria Haas; Offered for sale at Sotheby’s London, 3-4 December 1997, lot no. 51, from the "Property from the family of Ing. Bruno Drexler, Vienna", but not sold; Possibly still in possession of Maria Haas or the family Drexler in Austria.
