Description
Fire-gilded figure of Ganymede as a putto riding on an eagle. He is stretching his right arm upwards. The figure was mounted at the top centre of the frame of a large Venetian mirror.
Provenance
1719 until the war-related removal in 1942 furnishing of the Royal State Apartments (also 2nd coffee room 509); in accordance with the 1924 settlement agreement, the mirrors were transferred to the Free State of Saxony; in 1944 mirrors and mirror parts and wall mirrors were removed from the Dresden Castle to a relocation site (Rammenau or Schleinitz Castle); The wooden substructure of the mirror top has been preserved; Circumstances of loss unknown. A loss in connection with the events of the Second World War is assumed.
